Step 5 – The Must Have Secret for Health


This area is rarely addressed in a clinically setting but you cannot be healthy without belief.  Our cells respond to our beliefs and emotions just as they do to nutrients and negative thoughts harm you as quickly as a toxin.  These lessons are not new, your spiritual nature has to be in harmony with your physical body to heal.  Negative thoughts really CAN make you sick.

Scientific research has shown that although we cannot choose our genetics, we do have the ability to influence which of our genes are expressed. We have the ability to turn on genes which promote health, and turn off those which code for illness and disease. How can we do this? The answer is surprisingly simple…

Our lifestyle habits, including our diet, exercise, and thoughts dramatically affect the expression of our genes.

We used to think that our DNA determined everything…from the color of our eyes to the health of our body. Now science has discovered that our DNA is only a blueprint. From this simple blueprint, there are over 30,000 variations which can be built from each gene. A whole new branch of medicine is developing called “epigenetics.” Epigenetics simply means, “Above the genes”.

Bruce Lipton a noted cellular biologist from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and author of The Biology of Belief proposed that our genes cannot turn themselves on or off. In other words something in the environment has to trigger gene activity.  The study of epigenetics takes this a step further exploring how the environment controls gene activity and is one of the most active areas of scientific research.  So you might think of yourself as an individual but you are in truth a cooperative community of approximately fifty trillion cells.  Using the lessons from our cells Dr. Lipton conclude “We are not victims of our genes but masters of our fates, able to create lives of overflowing love and peace.”

Make a practice of appreciation and peace.  Love yourself and those that make up your life.  I critical practice is forgiveness.  Embrace the doctrine of love and forgiveness.  Everyone is on a journey, if they are negative or hurtful, forgive them and move on.  I am not trying to be simplistic here.  These are tough issues but fundamental to your health.  If you hold on to the negative thoughts and a hurtful event it only hurts you.  But let’s be clear that negative chatter has got to go.  So the logically question is how?  Great Spiritual leaders through the ages have been preaching this concept.   Even In our contemporary world nationally recognized figures like Wayne Dyer, Louise Hay, Deepak Chopra and even Tony Robinson share critical nature of positive thinking.   Why don’t more people jump on board and harness the joy of positive thinking?

That’s a good question and there are countless answers but probably the most prevalent is it involves work to stay positive.  There are deep hurts with no excuses but release the negative dialogue and the reward is your health and joy.

Unfortunately the case scenario I see most often is people don’t want to think about health until they lose it.  Research shows that loss of something is a far more powerful than gain.  So is fear of disease the most powerful motivator of health?   I hope not and I truly don’t think so for all people.

Know your Worth accept nothing less.  This one is near and dear to my heart because it became my story.  When I studied to become a Naturopath all the methods and benefits of health I was blown away with how divorced the medical model was from healthy practices.  It also was sickening what was being offered as food.  Who knew!  So my attitude dramatically changed.  I hate being played for a chump.  The fast food industry does not care about you as long as they are making big profits. So while we as a population get sicker and sicker.  They are happy all the way to the bank.  Well I decided I was not going to be played anymore and neither should you.

Focus on What You Want- sounds easy doesn’t it but do you know your thoughts can manifest your results.  So constant self-criticism will ultimately lead to defeat.  Keep your eyes on a healthy body and sound mind.

The Joy of Overcoming a Challenge– Only growth leads to change and without it new habits won’t form.  You may be only 30 days from vibrant health.  Push through!

Confidence and self-respect- Nothing is more powerful than personal success.  Your whole persona changes.  Start with small challenges and see you success.

Like What you See in the Mirror- Yes love yourselfBe kind and faithful to that person you see in the mirror.  If you do you will not abuse the physical, spiritual or mental being that is you.
