Eat More Chocolate!

The earliest known use of chocolate was in the form of the cacao bean (more commonly known as the cocoa bean) in the Amazon, back in 2,000 BC.  That’s more than 4,000 years ago.

One of the biggest claims to fame of cocoa is its antioxidant properties.  Thanks to its high concentration of flavonoids, which are compounds found in thousands of plant-based foods, chocolate has a rather impressive ORAC (oxygen radical absorbance capacity) score.

Those higher levels of flavonoids also provide positive effects for heart health!

But before you go on a chocolate binge…  these effects were shown with dark and dark chocolate only. This is key…dark chocolate.  And milk chocolate is not an option either.

Not only does milk chocolate contain significantly less cocoa, it also tends to be higher in fat, sugar, and calories.  Plus, there is evidence to suggest that milk binds to flavanols and interferes with their absorption.11 Whether one eats a candy bar with milk as an ingredient, adds milk to cocoa, or drinks it to wash down a brownie, the milk basically blocks the flavanols from performing their functions.

So… choose your chocolate well.   your best bet is to use unsweetened cocoa powder.  That way you avoid the sugar/fat trap while still reaping all the benefits. For chocolate bars chose the 70% cocoa content with less than 10 grams of sugar.

truffles

Finally, you might want to stir up this yummy truffle recipe:

Put raw coconut oil in a double boiler.  Heat the water, melt the oil, and take remove it from the stove.  Mix in raw cacao powder, along with almond butter, coconut flakes, and chili powder and/or cinnamon.  Stevia can be used to sweeten it.

The best part of this recipe is that you can determine the measurements and proportions.  Just add and stir ingredients until the mixture is nice and creamy.  Then refrigerate the mixture until it is cool, roll into truffle-like balls, and freeze them.

You can thank me later😊

FYI: If you happen to live in the Santa Rosa Beach, Fl area my friend, Shyron makes chocolate to die for!   Check our her site- https://www.vip-vibe.com/

I feel the pain but I am not one to suffer!

I have a great group of friends in the neighborhood and we get together to exercise  a couple of times a week.   Well we started yoga this week and I love it but I have to admit it but I am feeling muscles I had forgotten about.   All this driving and sitting at a computer that is part of my routine really puts strain on the lower back and I can feel the pain when I start stretching.   Goes to show  I much I need it.  But I am not one to suffer!

There are some wonderful natural remedies that stop inflammation in it’s tracks.  After all by the time you feel the pain you have some serious inflammation.   And that leads to more injury.

I love using a few tricks to stop the pain within minutes.   This recipe uses essential oils and its a miracle at stopping pain fast.   Watch this video for all the details.

The Rules Of Weight Loss Have Changed

The misguided rules of the low fat diet are gone and won’t be missed.  The new rules embrace healthy delicious fats.  Healthy fats are not only delicious they have amazing health benefits including reducing inflammation, balancing blood sugar and weight loss.  Inflammation is linked to a host of chronic disease you want to avoid like arthritis, diabetes, ADHD, depression, eczema and more.

So what are these “healthy” fats?  Think nuts and seeds like sesame, coconut, macadamia, chia, flax, pistachios, pecans, walnuts, full fat organic dairy and clean protein (grass-fed beef or bison, poultry).

Now don’t get overwhelmed you can fit these into your current eating plan with little effort with one cardinal rule – DON’T eat fat with sugar!   The body is designed to use the fastest source of energy which will be sugar and store excess calories as fat.  The exciting benefit is you can eat fat without the sugar and burn off the fat.  The more healthy fats you eat, the faster you will lose weight, repair your stress, hunger and sex hormones, and produce soft wrinkle-free skin!

  • So here are some ways to start eating healthy fats every day;
  • Use organic pastured butter on your vegetables
  • Add 2 teaspoons of coconut oil to your smoothies
  • Use avocado instead of mayonnaise on your sandwich
  • Toss pine nuts into your recipes or grind them for bread crumbs
  • Snack on nut butter like pumpkin, sesame, cashew, and almond
  • Experiment with hemp or flax oil on salads

Just remember all fats can turn rancid so handle them with TLC, refrigerate and store in a dark container.   Also banish all fake fats!  They inhibit metabolism, reduce thyroid function, and promote inflammation.  These types are fats are hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated, like margarine, shortening, soybean, cottonseed, canola, vegetable oils and cooking sprays.

So leave your fear of fat behind and enjoy a slimmer, healthier you!
